Family Support

At Prescot Primary School and Nursery, we know that children thrive when home and school work together. Supporting our families is therefore an important part of putting the learner first.

Our experienced CARE Team (Creating Attachment Relationships in Education) brings together staff from across school to make sure children and families can access the right help at the right time. The team can provide support with attendance and punctuality, inclusion, SEND, wellbeing and pastoral needs, as well as helping families who may be experiencing difficulties or changes at home.

We understand that family life can sometimes be challenging. Our approach is always to listen, support and work alongside parents and carers, helping to identify practical solutions and, where appropriate, connecting families with other professionals, services or sources of support.

Our Family Support Practitioner plays an important role in creating strong, trusting links between home and school. They are available to listen to families, offer advice and practical support, help parents navigate services and ensure that concerns at home which may be affecting a child in school are understood and responded to sensitively.

Our Attendance, Inclusion and SEND teams also work closely with families so that barriers to being in school, feeling included and accessing learning can be identified as early as possible. We recognise that every family is different and that support should be tailored to individual circumstances.

Above all, we want parents and carers to know that they do not have to wait until a problem becomes a crisis to speak to us. We encourage families to reach out, ask for help and talk to us. By building positive relationships between children, families and school, we can work together to help every child feel safe, included, supported and ready to learn.
