Uniform

Prescot Primary School Uniform Policy

At Prescot Primary School, we believe that a school uniform plays a key role in promoting a sense of identity, pride, and belonging in our school community. It also supports equality between pupils and ensures that children are appropriately dressed for learning and play.

This policy sets out the expectations for school uniform, including our Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), and applies to all pupils. However, for some children, especially those with complex needs, a school uniform can be a barrier to feeling safe and happy in school. We would ask families to get in touch if this is the case for their child and we can work together to agree an individualised approach.

Main School Uniform (Years 1–6)

Pupils in Years 1 to 6 are expected to wear the following uniform:

  • Top: Blue sweatshirt, cardigan, or hoody with or without the school logo.

  • Shirt: White polo shirt. Polo shirts with the school logo can be purchased but are not compulsory.

  • Bottoms:

    • Grey trousers or grey shorts.

    • Grey skirts or pinafores (blue and white checked dresses may be worn in the summer months).

  • Footwear: Black shoes or plain black trainers.

General Guidance

  • All items of clothing should be clearly labelled with your child’s name.

  • Jewellery should not be worn in school, except for small stud earrings, which must be removed or covered for PE.

  • Long hair should be tied back during the school day.

  • Uniform items with the school logo can be purchased from approved suppliers, but non-logo alternatives are acceptable where stated.

  • We offer second-hand uniform to support families.

Equality and Inclusion

We are committed to ensuring that our uniform policy is affordable and accessible for all families. Branded items are kept to a minimum, and second-hand uniform is available through the school.
