Uniform

Prescot Primary School Uniform Policy

At Prescot Primary School, we believe that a school uniform plays a key role in promoting a sense of identity, pride, and belonging in our school community. It also supports equality between pupils and ensures that children are appropriately dressed for learning and play.

This policy sets out the expectations for school uniform, including our Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), and applies to all pupils.

Main School Uniform (Years 1–6)

Pupils in Years 1 to 6 are expected to wear the following uniform:

  • Top: Blue sweatshirt, cardigan, or hoodie with the school logo.

  • Shirt: White polo shirt or white shirt (an optional blue tie may be worn). Polo shirts with the school logo can be purchased but are not compulsory.

  • Bottoms:

    • Grey trousers or grey shorts (in the summer months).

    • Grey skirts or pinafores (blue and white checked dresses may be worn in the summer months).

  • Footwear: Black shoes or plain black trainers.

PE Kit (Years 1–6)

  • Blue and white sports top with school logo.

  • Blue shorts with school logo.

EYFS Uniform (Nursery and Reception)

Children in EYFS should wear:

  • Nursery: Red sweatshirt, hoodie, or cardigan with school logo.

  • Reception: Blue sweatshirt, hoodie, or cardigan with school logo.

  • Bottoms: Navy jogging pants.

  • Shirt: White polo shirt (with or without school logo).

  • Footwear: Comfortable shoes or trainers with Velcro fastenings.

  • Optional summer uniform: Navy shorts or a blue checked summer dress.

General Guidance

  • All items of clothing should be clearly labelled with your child’s name.

  • Jewellery should not be worn in school, except for small stud earrings, which must be removed or covered for PE.

  • Long hair should be tied back during the school day.

  • Uniform items with the school logo can be purchased from approved suppliers, but non-logo alternatives are acceptable where stated.

  • We offer second-hand uniform to support families.

Equality and Inclusion

We are committed to ensuring that our uniform policy is affordable and accessible for all families. Branded items are kept to a minimum, and second-hand uniform is available through the school.

This policy will be reviewed annually to ensure it remains practical, affordable, and in line with Department for Education (DfE) guidance.
