As we approach the end of another busy and exciting school year, it’s the perfect time to reflect on all that our pupils have achieved. From new friendships and exciting learning opportunities to sports days, performances, honeybees and school trips, the children have worked incredibly hard and made us all proud.
This term has been filled with moments of joy, resilience, and celebration, and we are grateful to our dedicated staff, supportive families, and, most importantly, our wonderful pupils for making Prescot Primary and Nursery such a special place to learn and grow.
In this final newsletter of the year, you’ll find highlights from the past term, important information for the weeks ahead, and a celebration of our pupils’ successes. We hope you enjoy looking back at what has been a fantastic year and join us in looking forward to the adventures that 25-26 will bring.

Sad news to share
It is with very heavy hearts that we share the news that a very dear friend and colleague has passed away. Glenys Hurst-Robson was our Chair of Governors until Oct 2024 and had served passionately in that role for many years. She was a champion for our children and sponsored many things, including the Y6 hoodies.
Glenys was a huge support to the staff team and was the inspiration behind the Masked Racer event. During her illness, she had sent the idea over and the staff were very eager to do the event in her name. Glenys passed away a couple of days after the event but did raise a smile when watching the video with her family. This makes it all the more poignant that the school community raised so much for Willowbrook Hospice and we feel that we will make it an annual event, in the memory of this very special lady.
Thank you for all of your support and donations.

Y2 Conquer Chirk Castle!
Year 2 had a wonderful day at Chirk Castle! We enjoyed walking around the beautiful castle grounds, having a picnic in the sunshine and explored castle rooms such as the dungeon, the servant’s hall and the grand staircase. We saw furniture, clothing and ways of living in a castle during the 13th century.
All the children were extremely well-behaved using their manners and followed the rules of the castle. This was commented on by many visitors. Well done year 2!

As we reach the end of a wonderful year in Nursery and Reception, we want to take a moment to celebrate all that the children have achieved. It has been a joy to watch them grow in confidence, curiosity, and independence—whether taking their first steps into school life in Nursery or preparing to soar into Year 1 from Reception. We’ve explored exciting topics, built lasting friendships, and developed key skills through play, talk, and discovery. Thank you for your continued support throughout the year—it truly makes a difference. We wish all our families a happy and restful summer and look forward to welcoming familiar and new faces in September.
Here come the Koalas!

SEND Update
Over the past year, all Nursery and Reception staff have completed communication, speech and language training and are practising some new strategies and initiatives. Our early years staff were inspected and audited last month. We have been awarded a ‘Communication Friendly Setting’ status. This is an accredited recognition by Elklan.
Please find attached the visual timetable for the summer holidays. This can be printed off and shared with your child to help them to understand what time they have at home and when to get ready to come back to school.

LIFE-VACs
We have recently accepted a donation of two LIFEVACs from a wonderful charity through a member of our school community. These are potentially life-saving, non-invasive, anti-choking devices that will be placed in Nursery and close to the school canteen in case of an emergency. Staff will receive training before use. These devices will be a great addition to our school to help reduce the potential of a medical emergency.

Staying safe online this summer
With the summer holidays approaching, many children will be spending more time online, whether gaming, chatting with friends, or exploring new apps. While the internet offers lots of fun and opportunities to learn, it’s important to stay safe. Here are a few tips to help your child enjoy their online time responsibly:
-
Talk regularly about online activity – Encourage your child to share what they’re playing, watching, or who they’re talking to online.
-
Check privacy settings – Make sure games, apps, and social media accounts are set to private.
Encourage balance – Help your child balance screen time with outdoor play, reading, and family activities.
-
Be mindful of age-appropriate apps – Check the age ratings for games and platforms.
-
Know where to get help – Remind children they can always come to you if something makes them feel uncomfortable online.
For more advice, visit http://www.thinkuknow.co.uk/parents or http://www.nspcc.org.uk/onlinesafety.
Let’s work together to ensure all our children have a safe, happy, and healthy summer break!

Our 7th Conservation Project
As many of you will have seen, this year's Honeybee Heroes exhibition was a fantastic success. It really did celebrate everything that the children had worked so hard for. Whilst this is a great end result, the lasting impact will be how we see our children growing, year-on-year, as young conservationists who use their voices to 'act for action'. We love hearing the children talk about past projects and we can hear the passion as they discuss all of their former campaigns.
Thank you to all of the families who visited the exhibition and to those who joined in with the 'T-shirt Design' competition. That day of the year is one we enjoy so much. The winners of the prizes were:
EYFS: Bethany Wilson
KS1: Emily McClements
LKS2: Layla Baker
UKS2: Max Eastham.
Here's to our 8th Conservation Project - who knows what it will be?

BC & ASC
As we come to the end of another fantastic year at ASC & BC, we want to take a moment to thank all of our wonderful families for your continued support and trust in us. It’s been an absolute joy spending time with your amazing children - their energy, kindness and laughter have made this year special. We’re already looking forward to welcoming everyone back in September!
Due to rising costs, we have made the hard decision to increase the cost of Breakfast Club. The cost of Breakfast Club will rise to £5. We have done our best to keep all costs as low as possible, while continuing to provide a safe, welcoming and nourishing start to the day for your children. The rise will apply from 1st September and we appreciate your understanding and ongoing support.
As our Y6 children prepare to move on to their new schools, we want to wish each one of them the very best for the exciting journey ahead. Many children have been familiar faces since their early days at school and we will miss your energy, enthusiasm and kindness to the other children in ASC & BC. It's been a pleasure to watch you grow and thrive over the years. Good luck!
Just a reminder, booking windows for the first week back will be open during the summer holidays , so keep an eye out.
Wishing you all a safe, happy and sunny break!
ASC & BC Teams.

Rights Respecting Pupil Conference
In June, we held our third Rights Respecting Pupil Conference. We invited local schools and one from further afield In Blackpool. The aim of the day is to share our commitment to the promotion of the rights of the child and also to make new friends and connections - we achieved bothof our aims. Amongst other activities, we explored the life and impact of Dr Thomas Barnardo on the lives of children. We also debated the question of screen time and how adults need to support us in navigating a balance between screen time and real life.
It is a privilege to host this conference and we look forward to our fourth one in 2026!

Reading Update
Another year of reading at PCP has flown over. And again it has been a year of successes, celebrations, rewards, determination and pride. All of this is wrapped around our mission to encourage every child to be the best reader they can be. We know that reading is so important because it improves the learning functions of the brain, fosters personal growth, sharpens critical thinking, improves vocabulary and boosts creativity while providing entertainment. Our children’s futures are more secure if they can read fluently and understand what they read. This is why we put so much emphasis on individual targets and rewards.
As always, we thank our families for their support of our reading initiatives, and for all the kindly donated books. Reading club has been a welcome addition and will carry on from September in our library which remains one of the jewels in our crown and is constantly commented on by visitors.
We have had so many children reaching their targets, becoming half word millionaires and word millionaires, including a millionaire in year 2 which blew our socks off! We look forward to starting again next year with a clean slate, and watching our readers grow.
Reading is a great way to pass some time during the holidays, whether it’s at home or chilling by the pool on holiday. Knowsley libraries are running their Summer Challenge again which is free to join. So keep reading, and broaden your horizons.

Goodbye to Mr Jones
This term, we also say a heartfelt goodbye to our wonderful Assistant Head, Mr Jones, who, after 14 incredible years at Prescot Primary, is moving on to an exciting new role as Deputy Head at Plantation Primary in Halewood.
During Mr Jones’s time with us, he has made an enormous difference to the lives of our pupils, families, and staff. From leading with kindness and dedication to supporting countless school events, trips, and initiatives, Mr Jones has helped create so many special memories that will stay with us for years to come. From introducing the smoke machine and spinner to the Talent Show to breaking his hip on Mile 12 in the London Marathon to running more successfully as ‘Zebra’ in The Masked Racer, we will never forget his energy and enthusiasm. His 'botheredness', warmth, and commitment have been at the heart of our school community - we send him off with pride.
While we are sad to see Mr Jones go, we know he will be a fantastic Deputy Head and continue to inspire and support many more children and families. On behalf of everyone at Prescot Primary School, we thank Mr Jones for everything he has given to our school and wish him every success and happiness in this exciting new chapter.

A message from Mr Jones...
The day has finally come to say goodbye. As I prepare to leave Prescot Primary and begin a new role as Deputy Headteacher at Plantation Primary, I find myself filled with so many emotions. While I’m excited for the new challenges ahead, it’s incredibly hard to leave a school that has meant so much to me.
Prescot Primary has been more than just a workplace, it’s been a huge part of my life for the past 14 years. I feel so fortunate to have worked alongside such a dedicated, passionate, and caring team. The children have inspired me every single day with their energy, humour, and determination, and our families have been such a supportive and valued part of that journey. Thank you for opening your hearts to me, for your constant support, and for making me feel like part of your family every single day.
I leave with so many cherished memories, not least our unforgettable PGL adventures, where laughter, resilience, and a few muddy wellies were always guaranteed! I’ll never forget the incredible talent shows either - the bravery, creativity, and sheer joy of our children taking the stage is something I’ll always treasure. These moments, and countless others, have made my time here truly special.
I will miss everyone, the smiles, the stories, the challenges and the triumphs. Prescot Primary will always hold a special place in my heart, and I will carry these fond memories with me as I begin my new role.
Thank you all, from the bottom of my heart.
Neil Jones

Goodbye to The PCP Tigers!
We must say a fond farewell to our wonderful Year 6 Tigers. They have been a huge part of our school community, and we are so proud of all they have achieved during their time with us. From their first days in Nursery or Reception to becoming the confident, kind, and capable young people they are today, they have shown resilience, teamwork, a love of learning and a strong bond with each other.
We wish each of them every success and happiness as they move on to their new schools. Remember, you will always be part of the Prescot Primary family – we can’t wait to hear about all the amazing things you go on to do! Once a Tiger, always a Tiger - let’s always hear you ROAR!

PCP - the home of the Glenbucks!
We are at the end of the first season for the Glenbucks at Prescot Primary and their recent presentation afternoon showed just how much the team is growing. We are proud to be associated with the same inclusive values as ourselves and thank them for their support in taking care of our grounds. It's also wonderful to see many of our children become members of the club and grow in confidence as a result.
